CRAFTING SPACES, PLAYING WITH THE VOLUMES, CREATING ARCHITECTURE
Projects: Welcome Video
THE DESIGNER
ARCHITECTURAL ALCHEMIST: DIVING DEEP INTO INTUTIVE DESIGN PROCESSES
My architectural approach emphasizes design interactions and maximizing design flexibility, integrating indoor and outdoor spaces, creating intricate spatial connections, and incorporating memorable elements. Rather than focusing solely on plans and areas, I prioritize well-calculated volumes. This approach has allowed me to forge intricate connections and merge functions, resulting in iconic designs that resonate well with clients. I have demonstrated this consistently in every project within my portfolio, setting a unique example each time.

GMI BUSINESS PARK
DESIGN OBJECTIVE
CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
The primary challenge lay in the immense scale of the project. Designing a site of such magnitude necessitated meticulous planning and an unwavering attention to detail.
The project’s vast scale offered the latitude to incorporate a diverse range of design elements, providing the freedom to craft something genuinely unique.
The employment of cutting-edge software tools facilitated the creation of highly detailed and lifelike models.
However, the most significant challenge also unveiled the most substantial opportunity. It allowed for the creation of an architectural masterpiece, serving as a testament to the path I have chosen.
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
Housing Blocks Design: The project began with the design of two distinct housing blocks. Each block was conceptualized as a twin tower design, standing tall on a grand pedestal. The lower floors of the housing blocks were designed to house commercial activities, clubs, and banquets. This not only provided amenities for the residents but also created a lively atmosphere at the base of the towers.
The upper floors were dedicated to residential use. The sky bridges, pool area, and penthouses, with plenty of landscaped breathing spaces, were incorporated into the upper floors. The design language incorporated dark metallic edges, staggered masses, breathing spaces in building mass after every 7-8 floors, and reflective glazing, creating a sleek and modern aesthetic.
The design of the second housing site was distinct yet harmonious with the overall project. The grand entrance, the glass bridge, the waterfalls, and the open first and second floors all contributed to the building’s unique presence. The addition of a six-story structure resembling a cruise ship, complete with a stepped terraced garden and a double-height glass cabin with sky pool, further enhanced the design appeal.
Market Blocks Design: The market blocks were framed in white, contrasting with the black buildings. Glass lifts were added to connect all floors, and the office space on top was extended on both sides and supported by double-height columns. The design was both functional and visually appealing, with a focus on pedestrian access and safety.
Design Tools and Techniques: The project was developed in a BIM environment, which allowed for flexibility and command over the design.
SITE & LANDSCAPING DESIGN
The site design process began with a clear vision: to create a variety of distinct zones that would add interest and functionality to the 100-acre site. This vision guided every decision, from the placement of walkways and cycle tracks to the design of the parks.
Zoning: The first step was to divide the part of the site which I was allowed to alter into multiple zones. This included five landscaped parks in the front, two central landscapes of the housing blocks, two zones distributed randomly on the building as terraced gardens, and a golf ground in the back. Each zone was designed with a unique character to add variety to the development.
Pathways and Cycle Tracks: To make the site accessible and safe for pedestrians and cyclists, I designed a network of walkways and cycle tracks throughout the site. These were strategically placed to provide easy access to all areas of the site.
Integration with Landscape: The housing blocks were designed to integrate seamlessly with the landscape. This was achieved by designing the central landscapes of the housing blocks as extensions of the housing block designs, creating a harmonious living environment.
The design of the housing blocks also took into consideration pedestrian access and safety. The placement of entrances, exits, and pedestrian pathways was carefully planned to ensure easy and safe access for all residents.
landscape Design: The landscape design was divided into multiple zones, including five landscaped parks in the front, two central landscapes of the housing blocks, two zones distributed randomly on the building as terraced gardens, and a golf ground in the back. Each park has its own distinct character, adding variety and interest to the development.
Planting: I planted long lines of hedges along the edges of roads to guide people to cross at safe points. I also created pockets of green spaces throughout the site to provide shade and enhance the visual appeal. I emphasized on a landscale picture which inspires the experiencer to appreciate design elements even more.
Lighting: I planned the placement of light points throughout the site to ensure safety and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the landscape at night.
Parking Lots: I redesigned the parking layout to create pockets of parking sections instead of continuous parking lots. I placed the entrances so that vehicles could easily be distributed across the parking lot, and took care to ensure that pedestrians were least disturbed going through the parking lot.
Sports Complex: One of the landscape zones was designed as a sports complex, with a running track, badminton courts, a basketball court, and a volleyball court. The layout of these features was designed to go with the design language and make the design more functional.
Integration with Buildings: The site design was integrated with the building designs to create a cohesive environment. For example, the commercial places at the foot of the high-rises were designed to create a high-activity street, similar to those seen in many big cities.
Landscape Concept: The idea was to create landscapes that felt like it has been grown naturally on the site, rather than being forcefully placed in it. This approach ensured that the landscapes blended seamlessly with the architecture of the housing blocks and felt like a natural part of the environment.
THE WALKTHROUGH
After three months of intensive design work, I embarked on the second part of the project, a back-to-back challenge:
Preparing for Monumental task: With a multidisciplinary background in architecture, animation, and architectural cinematography, my ability to translate these skills into creating a high-end architectural walkthrough sets me apart. This was a challenging task that required careful planning, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep understanding of architectural visualization. The decision was made on GPU rendering for scene setup.
Efficient Scene Setup: The efficient, error-free, UV-mapped, and scale-accurate BIM model was divided into five modules, Site with Hardscape, 2 Housings, Office Complex, and Market. Then create high-quality materials for beautiful closeup and faraway details.
Landscape Integration: I started putting landscape elements in the entire project according to the landscape designs, this became the most detailed and complex Forest Pack setup I ever created. The site was divided into 10 different landscape zones, each with its own unique concept. This process took 15 days, identifying suitable vegetation and creating thousands of instances, but it was essential in bringing the site to life and making it feel like a real, lived-in space. The resulting scene was snappy despite billions of polygons.
Lighting Design: I then moved on to lighting, designing the night lighting of all landscaped zones first and the building facade. This was a huge task that took 7 days, but by the end of this step, the scene looked marvelous.
Parametric Vehicles: Creating a parametric parking lot and using a plugin to create a flow of cars parametrically. Lights were added to the referenced car models, and the site was ready for shooting.
The Virtual Cinematographer: I Spent 3 to 4 days shooting the site, setting up hundreds of shots, and converting some into animated cameras. My cinematography skills played a crucial role in creating shot compositions and capturing the project from the best angles.
Rendering, Video Editing, Color-grading: Rendered frames with smart camera flow decisions for minimal frame generation and create maximum impact. Edited the project on DaVinci Resolve, color grading, and finishing it with the same level of effort that would have gone into making a music video.
This demonstration showcases my dedication, technical skills, and innovative approach to architectural visualization. My ability to translate my cinematography skills into creating a high-end architectural walkthrough sets me apart in this field. The final result is a testament to my hard work and passion for pushing the boundaries of technology in architecture.
THE LAUNCH EVENT
Upon completion of the project, a grand launch event was organized at the JW Marriott, a 5-star hotel. The event was a gathering of industrialists and influential people of the city, and it was also graced with a mesmerizing performance by a Sufi singer. The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the project with its walkthrough, which was met with awe and admiration from the attendees.
I was also invited to the event, an acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication I had put into the project. It was a proud moment for me to see the project I had worked on for months being appreciated and celebrated. The event was not just a launch, but also a testament to the power of creativity, resilience, and a positive mindset. This project not only enhanced my portfolio but also established my reputation among developers and architects. It was a memorable experience that marked the successful completion of a significant project in my career.
My contributions significantly influenced the company’s leadership, leaving an enduring impact. Their expressions of profound appreciation and gratitude underscored my pivotal role in the successful realization of this remarkable project. Beyond its construction, the project served as a powerful tool for marketing and brand enhancement.
CLIENT FEEDBACK
Your work and dedication towards it - are commendable and always a respect for it!
Vaibhav Jain, GMI
This project represents a monumental undertaking in architectural design and visualization. Tasked with creating a design and walkthrough for a 100-acre multi-use development site, I was given the freedom to design the entire project from scratch, with only pre-defined zones in a master plan, as per the sanctioned land use by the authorities.
The development consists of two distinct housing blocks, two market blocks, an office complex, and an expansive landscape design. Each element was meticulously designed to create a cohesive and visually stunning environment.

DESIGN CHALLANGES & OPPORTUNITIES

C-FLOAT RESIDENCE
Prioritize natural light, ventilation, and a strong connection with nature.
The South Sun: The plot’s southeast-facing orientation posed a challenge due to the direct sunlight in summer.
However, this also presented an opportunity to design the house in a way that could harness the winter sun.
High-Value Clients: The multimillion-dollar property in DLF Phase 3 demanded sophistication and exclusivity.
The client’s expectations added to the challenge but also provided a chance to set an example.
Balancing Privacy and Views: maintain privacy while maximizing views of the courtyard and landscape.
Stone Wall: The stone wall served as a canvas for creativity - a design feature that would define the entire house.
DESIGN OBJECTIVES, CHALLANGES & OPPORTUNITIES
DESIGN FEATURES
-
Unique Layout: I designed a unique ‘C’ shaped layout that forms two mirrored 'C’s. One ‘C’ represents the built-up area, while the other symbolizes the open garden. This layout helped to integrate the built and open spaces effectively.
-
The basement with sunken courtyard: To allow natural light into the basement, I proposed a sunken courtyard. This element was used not only to enhance the lighting in the basement but was also designed to add an aesthetic element to the house. The basement houses a lounge cum bar that opens to the sunken courtyard. The basement also includes a home theatre and a gym.
-
Floating Concept: I introduced a floating concept to give the illusion of the first-floor mass floating above the ground. This was achieved by creating a 1.5-foot gap between the stone wall and the ceiling, filled with frameless glass.
-
Stone Wall connection: A striking stone wall runs through the house from the front lawn to the courtyard's open entrance, creating a division between the drawing-living areas and the vertical access zone. This design feature added a unique aesthetic to the house.
-
Master Bedroom cum Office: The first floor hosts a master bedroom, cleverly divided into two parts with a full-length cabinet partition. This provided a personal office space for the owner without disturbing the sleeping area.
-
Terrace Garden: The second floor, devoid of a built base above the front master bedroom on the first floor, serves as a terrace garden. This design choice lent a sleek look to the building and provided an additional outdoor space for the residents.
-
Entertainment Zone: The second floor houses an entertainment zone complete with a pool table, a bar, a terrace garden, and a large washroom with a jacuzzi. This space was designed to cater to the recreational needs of the residents.
-
The C Junction Courtyard: A sliding folding opening creates a seamless transition between the indoor lobby and the outdoor courtyard, effectively extending the living space. It also provides easy access from the driveway to the house. With an outdoor sitting, this unique space also gives a pleasant view from the kitchen while working. The design also provides good sunlight in winter but cuts it in summer.

THE ARCHITECT'S HOME
Create a home that embodies a blend of aesthetics and functionality, reflecting my personal journey as an architect.
Prioritize the flow of spaces and intricate spatial connections, with each room revealing a unique theme.
To harness sunlight optimally, considering the extreme summers and winters of the tropical climate.
DESIGN OBJECTIVE
DESIGN FEATURES
Unique design elements: The stepped terraces on the side made the house look wider and balanced, The MS frame around the house makes it stand out as a designer home, and also serves as a supporting frame for movable shades and a trellis for the SF garden. It balances the stepped forms of the house too. The Block on the second floor on the double-height glazing makes the design look floating. The raised balcony in front inserted in the concrete box gives it a special character.
The Staircase Luminaire: The staircase was designed like an envelope, wrapping and creating a layer for lighting. The stairwell served as a luminaire, with white walls and marble steps, lighting up the house front. Under this stair, I created a powder room. The central staircase transforms the house into a duplex and serves as an aesthetic element for the drawing room.
Terraces & Gardens: The second floor features a beautiful terrace garden, a recreational space for the residents during the day and night with beautiful lighting, and privacy covered with plants. The first floor also has dedicated terraces with each bedroom.
Natural Light: front double-height glazing towards the east brings maximum morning sun and warms up the house. The second floor gets the west sun in winter. Sunlight cuts off in summer, giving maximum shade on all floors. All bedrooms towards the north on the ground and first floor get ample north light from corner windows. The service room gets light from a double-height skylight, which also acts as a cooling tower in summer because of its louvers.
Ventilation: The side elevation features a recessed wall with corner slit-window openings towards bedrooms, providing a cool way to ventilate the rooms. The front and the rear entrance doors are placed such that when both are opened, create a natural airflow.
The 3 Halls: All 3 floors have a large hall room, that gives a sense of openness, living in a large house:
The Ground Floor has a drawing-dining of 30ft length connected to an open kitchen, leading to a private service area in the back.
First Floor has a TV lounge and a library with a small gym. It is the entertainment room and has a treadmill too.
The Second-floor hall is a separate multipurpose room directly accessed from the stairwell in the front. It can serve various functions, such as a hall for gatherings or commercial activities like yoga classes or kitty parties. Or it can even be converted into a larger office space.
Terrace Suite: On the second floor, there is also a bedroom in the rear. This room, which has the best climate in winter due to its west-facing windows, offers a panoramic view. This room, with a separately attached washroom and a wooden floor, raised a step from the rest of the second floor, opens into the long terrace garden on the second floor. It's the favorite and most relaxing place in the house. It was also designed to serve as an Air-Bnb.
