Every architectural design project presents its unique set of challenges and opportunities. One such project that stands out is the design of luxury cars penthouse above their showroom in Sydney.

Project Overview

The objective was to create an elegant serviced penthouse for prospective clients to stay during short periods. The design needed to reflect the company’s commitment to exceptional service and warm hospitality, aligning with the client’s high expectations and brand identity.

Challenges & Opportunities

The project posed several challenges. The showroom was located on the ground floor, and the penthouse was on the 7th floor, connected directly through a lift. The design had to emphasize the Sydney Harbour skyline visibility from the site, with easily configurable flexible open planning. Two themes were developed - one in black and the other one in white.

Process & Solutions

The design approach was centered around two themes - black and white, each offering a distinct aesthetic and ambiance. Initial brainstorming sessions and frequent discussions were conducted with the Principal Architect to arrive at a suitable design language for the project. The modified BIM model was linked with 3D application for 3D visualizations, allowing to create high-quality photographic design views.

Design Features

The living area was developed as an open plan, featuring a lounge, an island kitchen with a bar, and a dining space. Full-length windows extend the living space into the terrace, seamlessly integrating and enhancing the overall function. A warm outdoor lounge deck, surrounded by plants, features a white tabletop fireplace at the center. The design provides a seamless, invisible, unobstructed view of the Sydney skyline, spanning 240 degrees. Full-length windows in bedrooms and the washroom were incorporated without compromising privacy or aesthetics.

Client Feedback

The client, Ar Arun, Principal Architect at Arun +T design, Sydney, Australia, was pleased with the work and complimented the designer’s genius and need for a good environment to flourish.

This project is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovative thinking, and meticulous execution. It showcases how design can elevate a space, transforming it into an experience that leaves a lasting impression.
